As artist and self-described trash nabber Carye Bye prepares for her latest exhibition, she moves through Pittsburgh’s Woods Run corridor collecting the objects that others leave behind. Rusted metal, broken toys, bottle caps, and fragments of plastic become the raw materials for a new body of work, each piece carrying a story about the people and places from which it came.

While searching for inspiration, Carye is also quietly restoring an overlooked urban woodland. Clearing litter from trails and city steps reveals not only forgotten infrastructure but a renewed sense of connection between people and the landscape around them.

Through intimate observations of Carye’s creative process, Sunny Days Ahead explores the relationship between art, stewardship, and curiosity. The film is a portrait of an artist whose fascination with discarded objects becomes a way of understanding society, finding beauty in unexpected places, and inspiring others to care for the communities they call home.
